The former CBN governor said APGA acted against its own constitution.
Former CBN governor, Chukuma Soludo, has filed a lawsuit challenging his exclusion from the forthcoming Anambra state governorship election, by his party, the All People Grand Alliance.
The party had disqualified Mr. Soludo on grounds that he failed, alongside a few others, to meet the requirements for standing for seeking its nomination. An appeal panel upheld the decision.
Others barred from seeking the top job on the platform of the party are the immediate past Secretary to the Anambra State government, Oseloka Obaze, Emmanuel Nweke, Tony Nnaechetta, Chinedu Idigo, and Chike Obidigbo.
Mr. Soludo on Thursday asked an Abuja High Court to set aside the decision, and called for a judicial review of his disqualification by the screening committee.
In a motion exparte filed yesterday by his lawyer, Ikechukwu Ezechukwu, the former CBN governor urged the court to grant the request on grounds that APGA’s decision violated its constitution and Nigeria’s constitution.
He pleaded for an order of interim injunction, restraining APGA from preventing him from participating in the August 26 primaries, pending the determination of the motion on notice.

The decision to bar the candidates from the election came barely a mere three weeks after the celebrated reconciliation of the warring factions APGA, and the move is seen as indication the party was far from ridding itself of internal issues.
The panel chaired Tony Ojielo, said on Saturday it reviewed the appeal filed by affected hopefuls, and found them lacking in merit.
“We have listened to their appeals but their appeals lack merit,” Mr. Ojielo was quoted as saying.
The party’s primaries is slated for August 26.
