Convention: Sambo meets North West governors

Ahead of the convention of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party holding in Abuja on Saturday, Vice President Namadi Sambo on Thursday met with state governors and some  stakeholders from the North West geo-political zone.
The purpose of the parley that was held inside the Presidential Villa, Abuja, our correspondent learnt, was for the stakeholders to harmonise their positions on party issues as they affect the zone, especially the offices allocated to the area.
Those who attended the meeting included Governor Saidu Dakingari (Kebbi); Governor Sule Lamido (Jigawa); Governor Musa Kwankwaso (Kano); Governor Ramalan Yero (Kaduna) and Governor Ibrahim Shema (Katsina).
National Vice Chairman of the PDP, North-West zone, Alhaji Ibrahim Kazaure, addressed State House correspondents at the end of the meeting.
He said,  ‘‘The meeting commended the President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, Vice President  Namadi  Sambo and the state governors for their unwavering commitment to national unity and peaceful co-existence of all component parts of the federation.
“The meeting particularly observed and commended the President’s determination to contain threats to peace and security in some parts of the North which is yielding positive results.”
