Rep faults Amosun’s second term endorsement

AUGUST 7, 2013

Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun
A member of the House of Representatives representing Yewa South and Ipokia Constituency,   Mr. Biodun Akinlade, has faulted the endorsement of the Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun’s second term ambition by some members of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria.
Akinlade, who stated this in a statement in Abuja on Tuesday, described the endorsement inappropriate.
The  ACN member of the House of Representatives also commended Prof Attaihru Jega-led Independent National Electoral Commission for registering the All Progressives Congress.
He reiterated his intention to contest the state governorship election in 2015 and also denied speculations that he wanted to defect to the Labour Party.
He said, “With the withdrawal of ACN certificate and registration of APC, the purported   second term endorsement of Governor Ibikunle Amosun by some elements in the defunct ACN is now null and void as no one can build something on nothing.”
He urged the state government to concentrate on addressing issues of unemployment and abject poverty in the state instead of second term.
Akinlade stated, “It is only a jittery and desperate chief executive that coerces/induces the party executive and local government councillors to forcefully endorse him as witnessed in Ogun State recently.”
According to the Chairman of the House Committee on Science and Technology, the people of Ogun State are politically-conscious.
