Some staff of Uvwie Local Government Council, suspected of engaging in printing of fake tenement receipt for touts are currently assisting the police in investigation on how several companies got forged receipt for payment of tenement rates, which the consultant engaged by the

The activities of the council staff and the collaborators were discovered when some companies presented to the Revenue court, receipts purportedly issued by the council to them, for payment of tenement rates.

It will be recalled that recently, the Uvwie Local Government Council took Halliburton Nig. Ltd, Prodeco Estate Ltd, Kariot Hotel and suites Ltd and 50 other companies operating in the area to Revenue court, over their refusal to pay tenement rates.

Others taken to court are: Lee Eng. and Construction Ltd, Casa De Pedro Hotel, Bilfortune Shopping Plaza, Wellman Group Ltd, Chris Concord Hotel Ltd, Viv Ltd., Protea Hotel Ltd, Ovibi Victoria Seafood Ltd, Pedco Hotel and suites Ltd and S. B Castle Hotel Ltd.

They also include Submar West Africa Ltd, Pelfaco Ltd, Niger Constuction Ltd., Herculese Nig Ltd, Shore Gas Ltd, Sizzles Fast Food Ltd., Sampam Oil Ltd, and Hotel Christy Ltd.

Meanwhile, Benshes Consult operations manager, Mr. Alfred Egbara has advised the general public to be wary of paying their rates to previous/unauthorized persons. In a statement, he said all payments in respect of commercial/industrial and residential estates tenement
rates should be made to the above office.

Mr. Egbara said the consultant would not take responsibility for any payment made to touts and those who engaged in these nefarious acts would be handed over to the security agencies for further investigation and prosecution.
