The visit of the wife of President Goodluck Jonathan, Dame Patience Jonathan, on Sunday, caused untold hardship to motorists plying Agege, Iju/Shaga, Berger/Ogba/Pen Cinema and commuters in these areas as the roads witnessed serious traffic jam.
The traffic snarl was also noticed on the routes leading to Murtala Muhammed International Airport through which the First Lady came into Lagos and later returned to Abuja.
Many commuters wondered why those in authority could subject those who voted them to power to this kind of hardship.
P.M.NEWS correspondent learnt that Mrs Jonathan was in Lagos to commiserate with the family of Mrs Folasade Afusat Adisa who lost her life in a ghastly motor accident that occurred when she and other women were returning from Abuja where they had gone for a rally the First Lady organised recently.
Mrs Jonathan invited women from the 36 states of the country to Abuja for what was tagged “Celebration of Nigerian Women for Peace and Empowerment”, rally many said was a mere political rally organised to garner support for President Jonathan’s 2015 presidential bid.
Mrs Adisa, it was gathered, led the women from Lagos to the event that also caused untold hardship to motorists and commuters in Abuja city centre as most roads were blocked during the rally.
Mrs Jonathan met with the three children of the deceased and other members of the family to express her sadness at the tragic loss of the woman politician.
Meanwhile, Mrs Adisa was buried last Tuesday while others who were seriously injured in the accident are being expected back in Lagos today.
