We ‘ll fortify team before World Cup — Eaglets coach

on APRIL 30, 2013

Golden Eaglets’ coach Manu Garba has said new players will be given opportunities to fight for places in the team ahead of the 2013 Fifa Under-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The Eaglets were beaten 4-5 on penalties by the Baby Elephants of Ivory Coast in the final of the 2013 Africa Under-17 Championship in Marrakech, Morocco on Saturday after the pulsating encounter ended 1-1.
Garba said his charges failed to live up to expectation when it mattered most.
“Frankly, whatever happened we should still be thankful to God since we didn’t bargain for this,” Garba said.
“We wanted to go back to Nigeria with the cup and gold medal and we created many chances and if we had taken them today (Saturday) the story would have been different.
“We’re going to fortify the team despite the fact that some of these players secured us the ticket to the World Cup and we’re going to look for quality replacements before going for the World Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE),” he said.
Keita.
