Osun Govt Commended On Cuba May Day Celebration •Majority Of Cubans Are Of Yoruba Origin – GUIA ICAP
Osun has 47 delegates at the Julio Antonio Mella International Camp, in Caimito-Cuba, to participate in the May Day brigade, organized by the Institute Cuban Amistad Conlos Pueblos (ICAP).

Speaking with our OSUN DEFENDER at the camp last Tuesday, the ICAP official in charge of Nigerian delegates in Cuba, Mrs Fidelia Ricardo, said only a government that practises and recognizes progressive and good governance would sponsor such number of delegates to Cuba for the programme.
Ricardo stated that the ICAP is impressed with the number of people from Osun, who were representing Nigeria at the programme, stressing that the turnout of the state government has indicated that the governor is a revolutionary and a progressive.

She explained that the International May Day celebration is to strengthen the solidarity and the diplomacy existing between the Cuba and other countries.
Ricardo also explained that the programme is also to showcase the existence and good condition of Cuba as a country despite the economic blockade from America and other European countries.
In another development, The GUIA of ICAP, Mr Eliseo Preval Guerra, has said that Yoruba race has a large percentage among the Cubans.
According to Guerra, majority of the Cubans are from Africa, particularly from Yoruba-speaking states in Nigeria.
He attributed the presence of the Yoruba race presence in Cuba to the slave trade periods, when Yoruba people were being brought to the
country for slavery.

Guerra, who said he was interacting with Yoruba for the first time, stated this last Tuesday while welcoming the delegates from the State of Osun to the International May Day celebration in Caimito.
