Anambra River Horror: Buried Corpses To Be Exhumed Tomorrow

About three more corpses were still afloat at the Ezu River even as the Anambra State government yesterday announced plans to exhume tomorrow all the bodies earlier recovered from the river but were buried.
The state commissioner for health, Dr. Lawrence Ikeakor, disclosed this to newsmen at the scene of the horror where more bodies were again seen afloat the river.
He said the state government would tomorrow exhume all the dead bodies earlier recovered from the river for proper autopsy and other investigations.
Accompanied during the visit by his counterpart in the Ministry of Local Government, Mrs. Azuka Enemuo, Ikeakor said he had gone gone to the river to receive the chairman of the ObinnaUzorl Foundation, Dr. Obinna Uzor, who visited residents of the Amansea community over the unfortunate development and to distribute relief materials to them. He commended the manner illustrious indigenes of the state were showing love to the communities.
He said the state government had engaged a team of pathologists to carry out autopsy and other relevant examination on the corpses to ensure that the cause of their death was established.
Govs To Review Stance On Constitution Amendment Tomorrow
The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) will meet tomorrow in Abuja to review its stance on the ongoing constitution amendment process and its peer review exercise.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) said yesterday that the piece of information was contained in the agenda of the NGF meeting.
The governors are also expected to review the polio eradication initiative of the forum.
