CAN Reaffirms Confidence In Oritsejafor

Following the alleged crisis between the Catholic Bishop Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the president in Council of CAN has reaffirmed its confidence on the president of the association, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor.
The CAN General Secretary, Rev. Musa Asake, made this known in a communiqué which he read and presented to journalists after a meeting of the President in Council held yesterday at the National Christian Centre in Abuja.
He said that it was resolved at the meeting, that CAN was a family and as a family it had its own internal mechanism for resolving its issue and that CAN had therefore set in motion the process for resolving the issues.
 According to the communiqué which was signed by CAN Vice President/ Head of Organisation of African Instituted Churches (OAIC), Most Rev. Daniel Okoh,  and Head of Christian Council of Nigeria (CCN), Most Rev. Emmanuel Udofia,  the President in Council reaffirmed its implicit and explicit confidence in the CAN President, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor in all his public statement on behalf of CAN.
He said that the President in council, in the communiqué which was also signed by Head of TEKAN/ECWA fellowship, Most Rev. Emmanuel Dziggau,  and Head, CPFN/PFN, Pastor G. O. Olutola,  appealed to the well known sense of social responsibility of the press in handling the current situation.
It would be recalled that, the President, Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBNC), Ignatius Kaigama had written to CAN President, Ayo Oritsejafor, saying his group was suspending participation in CAN meetings at the national level until such a time the leadership of CAN reverse back to the original vision, mission and objectives of CAN.
