Okorocha returns after medical trip to UK over car crash
Imo State governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, has returned to the state after a week of medical trip to United Kingdom hale and hearty.
Briefing newsmen at the Government House Owerri, Okorocha said he was healthy and sound, even as the medical examination conducted by his doctor abroad certified him fit to resume work.
According to Governor Okorocha “am back and am healthy. Am grateful to God Almighty”.Okorocha recalled his involvement in an auto crash while on project inspection at Owerri Orlu road which left him with a minor injury at the fore-head.
He further revealed that the injury cut was earlier treated in a hospital at Orlu but considering the fact that the cut was on the forehead necessitated the need for a thorough re-examination in a specialist hospital.
Governor Okorocha said he had forgiven the man whose car ran into the convoy, stating that he would not be tried in law court. He announced a gift of Two Hundred Thousand Naira (N200,000) to repair his Mercedes 200 that was damaged by the accident.
He, however, urged road users to drive carefully and avoid driving when drunk, stressing that what happened to him could happen to any other person.
The governor commended the deputy governor and other members of the Executive Council for running the affairs of the state and further thanked Imo people who prayed for his quick recovery.
Earlier, the man who crashed with the governor’s convoy, Mr Osita Patrick Nnewuihe, thanked God for the safe return of the governor.
