Big brother blues: All eyes on Ada, Mevin

Ada
Expectations of Nigerian fans of Big Brother Africa, concerning the candidature of their compatriots in the house – Ada and Melvin – are steadily rising. Initially, they had to grapple with the identities of both, but as they are getting more familiar with their profiles, they have started building interest in the housemates’ chances.
Last year, it was the late pop act, Goldie, that brewed sensation. Although not many people really applauded her style, she was at the centres of several stories that the fans talked about.
While it may be too early to shower encomiums on them, both Ada and Melvin appear to have looks that create a positive first impression that, sages say, last longer. This may be a significant consideration bearing in mind the spite that greeted one or two Nigerians that were in the house in the past few years. With their cool looks, Ada and Mevin seem to justify the fact that they are models.
Ada has been a video face, just as she is said to have been once engaged to rapper 2Shots. But for Melvin, many will be eager to see how well he can improve on his fame of having finished as a runner up in the Gulder Ultimate Search 1V and Mr. Nigeria 2011. Meanwhile, they have started well as they escaped the first round of nomination.
According to a statement from the organisers, DStv viewers saw how reality set in for housemates on Big Brother: The Chase on Monday as they had to nominate one another for eviction, less than 24 hours after kicking off the game. Following Monday’s first nomination show, the five housemates up for eviction this week are Ruby housemates Selly (Ghana) & Natasha (Malawi) and Diamonds Denzel (Uganda), Betty (Ethiopia) and Huddah (Kenya).
