Coordinating Minister for the economy and Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala
The National Council on Privatisation headed by Vice-President Namadi Sambo on Monday named successful bidders for both the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company Plc and Afam Power Plc.
The Chairman, Technical Committee, NCP, Mr. Atedo Peterside, told State House correspondents at the end of a meeting that seven out of the 11 firms that bid for Kaduna emerged successful and had been invited to the financial bid opening.
According to Peterside, the successful bidders include Axis Power Distribution Limited, NAHCO Consortium, Incar Power Limited, Aiteo Consortium, LEDA Consortium, Northwest Power Limited and Copperbelt Consortium.
For Afam, he said four out of nine bidders crossed the hurdle to the evaluation stage.
He gave the names of the successful bidders as Primeniza Energy Limited, Televas Group, Forby Energy Limited and TES Power Limited.
Peterside said the successful bidders had been invited to the financial bid opening stage after the submission of the required post qualification security.
He said, “It will be recalled that in accordance with the approved transition timeline for Kaduna Disco, a total of 11 bids were received as of April 16.
“Like Afam Genco, the evaluation was also conducted between April18 and 28 by two teams of right evaluators with representations from the BPE, NERC, Ministry of Power, CPCS, NIAF and Nexant.
“The pre-condition for any bidder to qualify for the commercial bidding stage, according to the technical committee, is that it has to score 75 per cent, although the committee will continue conducting due diligence to further cross check the information provided by the successful bidders.”
Another matter that came up for deliberation at the meeting was the approval of the technical evaluation report for the selection of the liquidator for the Nigerian Telecommunication Limited and its mobile subsidiary, MTel.
Peterside said three firms had been shortlisted for a mini financial bid for a guided liquidation of NITEL.
He, however, did not disclose the names of the companies, saying it was against the rule of the transaction to do so.
The meeting presided over by Sambo was attended by the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala; Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Yerima Ngama; Minister of Transport, Senator Idris Umar; and Acting Director-General, Bureau of Public Enterprises, Mr. Benjamin Dikki.
