Reps ask FG to reabsorb sacked workers of NIMC

House of Reps
The House of Representatives has urged President Goodluck Jonathan to prevail on the Federal Civil Service Commission to reabsorb sacked workers of the National Identity Management Commission into other ministries and agencies.
It also urged the management of the commission to present the disengaged workers to private partners for first option consideration of those suitably qualified for utilisation under the scheme.
A total of 4,029 staffers of the commission were disengaged in 2012.
The house made the call on Wednesday following the adoption of the recommendations of its Committee on Public Petitions.
Briefing the house, the chairman of the committee, Representative Uzo Azubuike (PDP-Abia), said the commission followed due process in disengaging the staff. He said that the committee made its recommendations due to the security risk involved in the number of staff sacked by the commission.
He said the committee discovered at the public hearing it organised that the number of staff sacked by the commission was 3,099, not 4,029.
