PDP condemns APC ‘s moves to woo aggrieved governors

The PDP also accuses APC of religious bigotry.
The ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has condemned the All Progressives Congress, APC, for allegedly desperately trying to woo PDP governors and celebrating “mere discussions.”
It described the APC as an hypocritical party lacking in genuine ideology and principles.
“By wooing PDP governors, the APC has also confirmed that it lacked true followership and electable materials at all levels; hence, its desperate bid to poach from the PDP,” the PDP, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, on Thursday in Abuja.
It added that the APC was a party of hypocrites driven by a desperate and blind quest for power and not by any ideology geared towards serving the interest of the people.
Stating that the bid to poach governors would not yield any meaningful result, the ruling party noted, “It is instead the normal practice for politically informed persons to move from parochial parties such as the APC to a national party with robust ideology and agenda such as the PDP and not vice versa.”
The PDP also referred to the opposition party as “a party of strange bed fellows united only by their inordinate quest and desperation for power.”
“It is clear to all that what we have in the APC is a gathering of hypocrites and despots whose only interest is to rule and lord it over Nigerians. What the APC forgets is that Nigerians are no fools and cannot be deceived by  its antics,” it said.
The statement, however, declared that the PDP was not perturbed by the actions of the opposition.
“No genuine member of the PDP will opt for the APC.”
It accused the APC of religious bigotry and promotion of violence and divisions among Nigerians.
“This is a party of religious bigots who have continued to fan the embers of religious fanaticism, ethnicism, dissensions and general social intolerance among Nigerians.
“Joining the APC is to join in expanding the activities of oppressive feudal lords such as Asiwaju Bola Tibunu who has turned Lagos and some southwest states into his personal estates and is now busy imposing leaders, looting state funds, converting state owned property to personal belongings and milking the citizens with high taxes to finance his wasteful lifestyle,” Mr. Metuh said.
The PDP, however, said as the only truly national party commanding genuine followership across the country, it would continue to be wholly committed to the national interest and the unity of the country in line with the principles of equity and justice as encapsulated in its ideology and manifesto.
The party also commended President Goodluck Jonathan for the humility and calmness he exhibited in the face of provocations and unwarranted vituperation and attacks by the opposition, describing him as a true statesman.
It, therefore, urged Nigerians to continue to support the President and his “transformation agenda” which it said, was geared towards the good of all.
