The men all pleaded not guilty.
The Police in Lagos on Wednesday arraigned a native doctor, Moshood Lukmon, and three others, charged with being members of a secret cult.
Others standing trial with Lukmon, 29, are Babatunde Mojeed, 29; Ibrahim Kosoko, 28; and Sholesi Adeniji, 34.
The accused are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, managing an unlawful society, and belonging to a secret cult, before a Surulere Magistrates Court in Lagos.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Gabriel Ekundayo, told the court that the accused, between the months of January and September, conspired with others still at large, to manage a secret society.
Mr. Ekundayo said that the accused were arrested based on information given to the police about their illegal act.
The prosecutor said that the offences committed contravened Sections 41, 42 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
Section 41 provides that any person who manages or assists in the management of an unlawful society is guilty of a felony and is liable to seven years imprisonment.
However, the four men, who reside in different parts of Surulere, Lagos, each pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, F.B. Lawal, granted the accused a N50, 000 bail each, with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case till October 31, for mention.
