OCTOBER 18, 2013

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and the Deputy Director-General, United Nations Educational Science and Cultural Organization, Dr. Lalla Aicha Ben Barka, will on Monday, October 21, be conferred with honours during the maiden convocation of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State.
Vice-Chancellor, ABUAD, Prof. Sidi Osho, said this at a press conference on Thursday.
Osho said the two were found worthy in their commitments and services to human development.
The VC said 18 of the 103 graduating students of the university would be conferred with first class honours.
“The University did not bend the standard to favour any student in the award of degrees. The honours were well deserved.
“The University has not deviated from the philosophy of quality education and impacting good morals into students. Our aim is for ABUAD to become a reference point among the leading universities in Africa”, Osho said.
She added that the take-off of the university’s College of Medicine became possible as a result of the Memorandum of Understanding reached with the Federal Medical Centre, Ido Ekiti.
The VC said the graduating students of the university took courses on food security, entrepreneurial and leadership trainings for them to be economically independent and viable.
