The National Secretary, Democratic Peoples Party (DPP), Alhaji Abdullah Muhammed, said his party was ready for the by-election into Delta Central Senatorial District scheduled for October 12.
Muhammed said on Wednesday in Abuja, that the party had put in place the necessary machinery to mobilise the people of Delta as well as to protect their votes.
``We have done all we can to comply with the Electoral Act which has been observed during the process of the primaries and the electioneering campaign.
``We have also resolved the minor misunderstanding among the members of the party and with compliance with INEC rules and regulations, we are sure of victory,” he said.
Muhammed said the party's candidate, Chief Ede Dafinone, had emerged through a primary that was conducted under a peaceful atmosphere without any acrimony or rancour.
He urged aggrieved members of the party to place the interest of the party and its victory above their own.
According to him, the DPP stands a chance to clinch the position as it is a grassroots party.
He said Dafinone, had all the qualities and experience to lead the people of Delta Central.
``We are very sure that Dafinone will continue the good work of late Sen. Pius Ewherido.
`` We are sure that he will facilitate the development of Delta Central Senatorial zone and the state in general,” he added.
He, however, urged INEC to place the interest of the electorate above other interests in the discharge of its responsibilities to ensure ``free, fair and credible polls’’.
