A 20-year-old man, Rafiu Aja, has been remanded in prison custody for allegedly killing one Wasiu Dauda, during a fight.
Aja was arraigned before an Ebute Meta Magistrate’s court.
The police said Dauda was stabbed in the neck with a broken bottle, during the street fight which threw the residents of Ipaja area of Lagos into confusion. He reportedly bled and died from the injuries sustained.
The investigating police officer told the court that the defendant had made confessional statements to the crime and had been identified by witnesses.
The charge read, “That you, Rafiu Aja, on the 28th day of August, 2013, at Raji Crescent, Baruwa Ipaja, Lagos in the Lagos Magisterial District, did unlawfully kill one Wasiu Abdul-Azeez Dauda, aged 25 years, “by stabbing him on his neck with a broken bottle and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 221 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2011.”
His plea was not taken for the offence.
