Delta State: Otokutu Indigene, Dick Ani Laments Neglect Of Community


Prominent Urhobo indigene and former President General of Otokutu Community of Ughelli South LGA, Delta State, Comrade Dick Ani has lamented the toDelta State: Otokutu Indigene, Dick Ani Laments Neglect of Communitytal neglect of the community by government.
Ani who spoke to Urhobotoday during a ceremony to commemorate his admission into Otokutu Elder Council said Otokutu as a fast growing community deserve the attention of the state government in the area of modern infrastructure such as good roads, pipe borne water, schools, government hospitals and above all adequate security.
During the presentation and formal acceptance as a member of the Elders Council of the community, Comrade Ani in his response while speaking to Urhobotoday said the honour did not come as a surprise to him hence it was based on his ‘unbeatable’ performance as the immediate past president general of the community.
Ani said although his present position as a member of the Elder’s Council is strictly advisory, he would go extra mile to bring development to the community.
On his part, Comrade Francis Arhiyor, Chairman Uvwie Chapter of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) expressed joy over the honour bestowed on Comrade Dick Ani, adding that it was as a result of his outstanding performance as the immediate past president general of Otokutu community that the honour was bestowed on him..
He noted that as a politician, Comrade Ani would use his contact to bring development to the community.
‘‘Politics and community relations go together and as a politician, he would use his contact to bring development to Otokutu community. He will also give quality advice,” he said.
Thanking God for bringing Comrade Ani to them, Papa Michael Umukoro, the oldest man in Otokutu community said, ‘Yes, we are happy with him. , He is a son of the soil. He will give us assistance. He has been doing it before now. We know he is going to help us, God will bless him’’.
Recalling the performance of Comrade Ani as President of Otokutu Community, Chief Okoro Okpurhie I of Urhie kingdom said as a President General of Otokutu Community, Ani performed creditably well.
“We accept him as member of Elders Council. . He did well. God will bless him,” he prayed.
Present at the occasion were Papa Michael Umukoro, the oldest man in Otokutu community, Chief Israel Okonedo, Mr. Paul Esiyoma, Otota (speaker), Mr. Lucky Jones Dolor, Chief Okoro Uphoro.
