Omisore’s Is Unserious Over Beautification Project – Ilori
The Special Adviser to the State of Osun Governor on Sanitation, Mr Bola Ilori, has described the claim by Senator Iyiola Omisore on the amount spent on beautification project on Asejire-Gbongan road as nauseating.
He disclosed this while answering questions from journalists at the state secretariat during the ongoing quarterly ministerial press briefing.
Omisore had in a national daily claimed that the state government had spent N7 billion on grassing projects on the express road.
However, Ilori said the Senator might be in a slumber while conjuring the figure, saying the total budget of the ministry for the Year 2012, which Omisore claimed, was just N2.4 billion, while that of the Year 2013 is N2.8 billion.
According to him, government wondered where the Ile-Ife-born senator got the figure he has been spreading among the people of the state, adding that Osun residents cannot be cajoled to believe his blatant lies.
He wondered how a former senator, who is aspiring to be a leader among the people, could embrace the path of lies and deceit, as a means of winning the support of the people.
He said the ministry’s budget in the last two years is not even up to the amount that Senator Omisore is claiming to have been spent on the project, adding that the senator ought to have applied some decency in his character, while going public to seek sympathy.
Ilori disclosed that from the ministry’s 2012 budget, it dredged about 123 kilometres of water ways, which is longer than the distance between Berger Bus Stop in Lagos State to Ibadan Toll Gate in Oyo State on the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway.
He noted that should the Federal Government take the path of the government of State of Osun in dredging water-ways, most flooding incidents would have been avoided across the country, adding that what Osun government is doing is responsible governance and nothing would deter it from achieving its aims
He added that just recently, the National Environmental Organisation charged other states of the federation to emulate the state government’s initiatives on environmental management to avoid incessant flooding incidents.
