NIMASA names Osamgbi head, PR unit


The Management of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency has appointed a journalist and public relations expert, Mr. Isichei Osamgbi, as Deputy Director and Head Public Relations.
A statement by the agency quoted the Director-General, NIMASA, Mr. Ziakede Akpobolokemi, as saying, “Mr. Isichei Osamgbi is expected to bring his immense wealth of experience in public and private sectors to bear on NIMASA’s operations and growth”.
Osamgbi had joined NIMASA last year as Deputy Director/Head, Abuja Zonal office.  Between 2007 and 2012 he worked with Shell Nigeria, serving in various capacities – including  Shell Media Relations and Communication Adviser.
  Between 1996 and 2006, the new NIMASA spokesman worked with ThisDay Newspapers. According to the statement, at ThisDay, he worked as Energy Editor, Deputy Political Editor, Deputy Group Business Editor, Business Editor (Nation’s Capital), Foreign/Diplomatic Editor, Deputy Group News Editor, Corporate/Public Relations Manager, and as member of THISDAY’s Board of Editors.
  Osamgbi earned his first degree in English from  Edo State University in 1992 and a Master’s in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos in 1997.
 In addition to several other certifications, Osamgbi is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations and has played leading roles as a member of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Lagos chapter.
