‘Metuh wrong on Edo poll’
MAY 1, 2013
A group, Coalition for Good Governance and Economic Justice in Nigeria, on Tuesday, faulted the claim by the Peoples Democratic Party, National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisah Metuh that the state government rigged the recent council polls in the state.
The coalition, in a statement by its Director of Mobilisation (South-South), Alhaji Dada Akpeji, said it was shocking that PDP, “which is known for its notoriety for election rigging, ballot snatching and stuffing could accuse Governor Adams Oshiomhole of its stock in trade.”
It said, “The PDP members are guilty of too many sins, they have made their beds, and they must lay on them nicely with whatever remains of their shame.
“These PDP mafias in Abuja and in Edo State are a terrible burden. They should not be allowed to carry on, especially in Comrade Adams Oshiomhole’s march to reposition the state as against the background that of all the luck in the world, when Nigeria restarted its journey to democracy in 1999, Edo State never had the luck of being governed by a progressive party until this ACN-led government of Adams Oshiomhole.”
Meanwhile, the governor’s Senior Special Assistant (Media), Mr. John Mayaki, said the PDP and its hierarchy were unaware of what constituted a threat to democracy.
He said, “Olisah Metuh was merely exercising his jaws and does not know what constitutes threat to democracy when he said the survival of our democracy is under very serious threat.’’
