Man dragged before court over N.9m fraud
A 45-year-old man, Agbaje Femi, on Friday appeared before an Abeokuta Magistrates' Court for allegedly defrauding one Arogundade Idowu of N900,000.
The accused of 10, Adeolu Street, Adigbe, Abeokuta, pleaded not guilty to the two- count charge of fraud and stealing.
The Prosecutor, Insp Augustine Ozimini, told the court that the offence was committed on March 6 at Governor's Office Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
He said that the accused posed as a worker at the Governor's Office and obtained the N900,000 from Idowu.
"Agbaje defrauded Arogundade under the pretence of getting him a job at the Governor's Office which the accused did not and he did not return the money," he said.
Ozimini said that the offences contravened Sections 516, 418 and 419 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun, 2006.
Magistrate Idowu Olayinka granted the accused bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum. He adjourned the case to May 20 for further hearing.
