Niger MDGs Expends N1.013bn For CGS Projects
Niger State is to expend N1.013billiion for millennium development goals’ conditional grant scheme (MDGs-CGS) of 2012 approved projects to be executed in 2013 fiscal year.
The director-general of MDGs in the state, Dr. Joshua Bawa, who stated this yesterday at a news conference in Minna, said MDGs- CGS was counter funded by the federal Government and the state government.
He disclosed that both the federal government and the state government contributed 50 percent each to the fund which invariably made it mandatory for each of the tier of government to contribute N506.7million.
Bawa explained that the projects approved were on water and sanitation as well as health sectors and 70 communities would be benefiting in line with the mandate of the millennium development goals.
The DG listed the projects to be executed under the water scheme to include drilling of 60 solar powered boreholes, rehabilitation of five number water booster stations in Minna.
He said that the water booster pumping stations to be rehabilitated were that of Bosso Road, IBB tank booster at Hill Top, INEC booster station, Top Medical booster station and Dutsen Kura booster station.
Under the health projects the director-general stated that expansion of rural hospital at New Bwari and Muregi would be carried out while works would be carried out at School of Nursing, Bida and School of Health Technology, Tungan Magajiya.
