Gov Chime Undergoing Treatment In London Hospital - Diplomat

Fresh facts emerged yesterday on the whereabouts of Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State, who has not been seen in public since September 19, 2012, when some of his aides said he left the country for overseas to enjoy his accumulated leave.
He is undergoing treatment for an undisclosed ailment at Cromwell Hospital, an internationally renowned private hospital based in Central London.
This disclosure contradicts persistent reports by some sections of the media that the PDP governor, who is serving his second term in office, has been receiving medical attention in an Indian hospital since he quietly left the country last September.
The press office of Cromwell Hospital yesterday declined confirmation that the governor is currently receiving treatment in the hospital. “In the interest of patient confidentiality, we do not ever comment on whether a person is or is not undergoing treatment at our hospital,” said the hospital spokesman who did not indicate his name.
Efforts to reach Angela Gurd, the hospital’s radiotherapy manager, proved abortive as her email was inoperative most of yesterday.
But our source maintained that Governor Chime is undergoing treatment in that hospital, adding that he is entitled to his privacy.
Cromwell Hospital, London, provides health-care facilities for United Kingdom and overseas patients majorly in areas such as cancer treatment, liver disease and transplant, neuro-surgery, spinal and heart surgery. The governor is allegedly suffering from cancer of the blood.
The hospital is located in the Kensington area of Central London, and is easily accessible from Heathrow Airport. The hospital is owned by Bupa, the leading global health-care company.
