ESUT returns to its past glory soon - Pro- Chancellor

ESUT
The Pro-Chancellor of Enugu State University of Science and Technology, Dr Chris Offiah, has said that efforts were being made to return the school to the glory path.
Speaking in Enugu on Wednesday, the pro-chancellor decried the deplorable state of academics in the school. According to him, ESUT as the first university of technology in Nigeria lived up to its billing in the past but fell apart in recent times.
Offiah said that Africa’s first computers (ASUTECH 800 series), the Peugeot compatible piston and the mace at the Supreme Court were some of the outstanding creativity from the school in its glory days. The pro-chancellor, who was also the governing council chairman, wondered where things went wrong.
He identified poor funding as part of the problems faced by the school and said that with the official launch of the trust fund project by March 21, it would place the school in a better financial position.
“With the idea of unveiling the ESUT trust fund, we strongly believe it will rake in more than enough resources to drive the university to a greater height. We are ready to make a come back in academics and technology, which the school was known for before,’’ he said.
