4 Killed By Gunmen In Adamawa
Unidentified gunmen yesterday struck Song Local Government Area of Adamawa State in the wee hours of Thursday in a series of gun attacks that recently bedeviled parts of the state killing one soldier, a police man, and an eighty year old woman alongside her grandson, a 13 year old boy while two soldiers and several persons were injured.
An eyewitness of the incident revealed to journalists that the gunmen stormed the local government in large numbers in a commando style at about 1:30am on Thursday where they razed down the police Divisional Headquarters and the Local Government Secretariat.
The source disclosed to journalists that the attackers divided themselves in to two groups; one of the groups allegedly armed to the teeth went to the police station located at the heart of the town dispersed the policemen on duty, ransacked it, carted away with weapons and burnt it down while the other group headed for the Local Government Secretariat and ransacked it before setting it ablaze a situation that led to neighboring houses to get burnt.
This latest attack came barely a week after an audacious attack was launched by gunmen in Maiha Local Government Area of Adamawa state, leading to death of 20 people in the state, while the state is still mourning that attack, this one was also launched added another source.
Confirming the incidence, the PPRO of Adamawa State police command DSP Mohammed Ibrahim in a telephone chat with journalists in Yola said, it is true, there was an attack on some government formations in Song even as he declined further comments. DSP Mohammed appealed to the general public to go about their lawful activities and report any activity that may cause the breach of peace in the state.
