The state’s slot, like that of other states, was reduced by 20 per cent.
The Executive Secretary of Jigawa Pilgrims Welfare Board, Muhammed Alhassan, said the state was allocated 2,584 seats for the 2013 Hajj exercise.
Mr. Alhassan said this while speaking with newsmen in Dutse on Wednesday.
He said that the state initially had 3330 allocations but reduced by 646 seats before the reduction of 20 per cent from each state of the federation.
Mr. Alhassan said that the board re-screened the prospective pilgrims and dropped some pregnant women who conceived after the first screening was conducted. He noted that other people affected were those that had once performed the hajj, under aged, sick and aged persons.
He stated that the board had also remitted about N1.3 billion to the National Hajj Commission as fee for the prospective pilgrims from the state.
The secretary also said that Max airline would fly out the pilgrims from the newly constructed state airport.
