‘I sell babies from N1.5m to N3m depending on the sex’

on MAY 31, 2013 ·

Shock could best describe the expression on the faces of members of the press as they listened to the confessional statements made by 50-year-old Oby George, over the role she, and other members of a baby-for-sale syndicate, played in helping women deliver babies.
Making the confession recently in Lagos, at the state Police Command, the Port Harcourt-based woman, who had been in the business for over a year, confessed to having helped women deliver countless number of children through a very questionable method. This she does after she is been paid between N1,500,000 to N3,000,000, depending on the sex and number of babies her clients requests for.
Waterloo
The bubble, however, bust when a 61-year-old Lagos-based woman, identified as Cecilia Adesope, who was allegedly delivered of a set of twins at the Port Harcourt delivery centre, was arrested by the police in Lagos, when she took the babies to a hospital for inoculation.
Embattled Oby said: “I am now ready to talk, because it seems we are hiding something here. Cecilia was brought to me by one Mr. and Mrs Peller. No… she was brought to me by Mrs Okoro, who is now at large. She has been treating her, and she pleaded with me to help her deliver a set of twin babies. That all her life she has not had any child of her own, that she is desperate.

“Mrs Okoro told me that we should use my apartment since her husband was around and she does not want him to know about this issue. So I agreed and N1,500,000 was paid into my account for the job. On her due date, she travelled down to Port Harcourt and we all went to my place. I gave her some herbs to chew after which she went to the toilet, when she got out, we asked her to lie down and push with all her might while I held her hands.
“At a point, we used a razor blade to give her some tear so that blood will come out and make the whole thing look real. Mrs Okoro then brought the babies, whom she had arranged from somewhere. That was when mama heard the cries of babies.”
Mother’s story
Asked how she met Mrs Okoro and where the babies were brought from, Oby told newsmen that she knows Mrs Okoro very well, as both of them work together in ‘helping women deliver,’ but declined to give any information on where the babies were brought from.
On her part, Cecilia Adesope, told newsmen that she was brought to Oby by a woman still at large, believed to be Mrs Okoro, who had told her Oby would be able to help her. She said she was asked to go to Port Harcourt for delivery after she paying N1,500,000.
Cecilia said she was given some herbs after which she noticed her stomach getting bigger and she was convinced she was finally pregnant.
She said: “When I got to Port Harcourt for delivery on the date I was given, I was given something like a seed to chew. After I did, I felt like going to the toilet. When I got out of the toilet, I was asked to lie down and push with all my power.
“After that, I heard cries of babies. I also noticed some blood on my private part, and was given a pad to use. I did not go to the hospital during the pregnancy period, because I was instructed not to do so, as the hospital scan will not see the babies.
“When I returned to Lagos with my set of twins, I decided to take them to the hospital for inoculation injections. I don’t know what went wrong, but while we were waiting for the injection, the police came and arrested me.”
Another expectant ‘mother’
Also paraded was 43-year-old Joy Ibe, a supposedly pregnant woman, who lives at Ajah area of Lagos.
She told newsmen she has been married for 18 years without any issue, a dilemma that sent her everywhere seeking for the fruit of the womb, until she came in contact with Port Harcourt-based Oby Gorge.
Joy told newsmen how she met Oby, and what followed: “One of my neighbours visited Nigeria and heard about Oby. After she travelled back to the Unites States, she sent me Oby’s number and asked me to contact her if I am interested.
“I called up Oby and told her my problems. She gave me her address to come and meet her in Port Harcourt. When I got to there and met with her, she gave me some herbs, which I took and returned to Lagos. After sometime, I noticed that my stomach started getting bigger, and I believed I was pregnant.
“I was also asked to come to Port Harcourt when I am due to deliver. I have not gone to the hospital for scan, because the instruction given to me was that the scan will not be able to identify the babies in the womb. I paid her N2,700,000 for triplets.
Signs of pregnancy
“The only signs I have as a pregnant woman is my swollen stomach and legs which you can see. I still see my period sometimes.
“On the day I was arrested by the police, Oby had invited me to Port Harcourt for check-up, so she could ascertain if I am due for delivery. I went and she checked me. After that she said I was not due, that I have to wait for a little longer.
“But because it was late for me to travel back to Lagos that very day, she said I should pass the night at her house. I obliged. That was when the police came and arrested us. From what I am seeing right now, I don’t believe that I am pregnant despite my swollen stomach and legs.”
I think I’m pregnant
Information made available to members of the press by the Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, revealed that it took a while for Cecelia to be convinced that she did not actually deliver the babies, going by the supposedly pregnancy period and delivery experience she had.
It was also gathered that the babies have been taken to one of the orphanage homes in Lagos.

Baba Suwe Loses N25 Million Award At The Court of Appeal

Baba Suwe in court
By SaharaReporters, New York
A panel of Court of Appeal judges in Lagos today set aside the N25 million compensatory damages earlier awarded Lagos comedian, Babatunde Omidina " Baba Suwe " over a prolonged detention by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) last year.
In the ruling, the Court of Appeal re-affirmed the right of the NDLEA to investigate, arrest, detain and prosecute drug suspects as long as the agency acts within the law.
The court said the NDLEA had not violated Mr. Omidina's rights because it sought and got court orders from the federal high court to keep him in custody after the arrested him on the suspicion that he had ingested hard drugs.
The Court of Appeal came down heavily on the Lagos High court judge that awarded the damages against the NDLEA, describing the decision as oppressive and burdensome to an agency of government carrying out its statutory duties.
Baba Suwe's attorneys led by civil rights activist, Bamidele Aturu,  has vowed to take the matter before the Supreme Court.

First Lady Didn’t Influence Amaechi’s Suspension From PDP, Presidency Says

First-LadyThe Presidency has again distanced the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan from the travails of Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi in the wake of his suspension by the National Working Committee of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP.
The Presidency described as ‘laughable’ reports that the first lady summoned members of the NWC to the Presidential Villa where she handed down instructions for the suspension of the Rivers Governor from the party.
The Special Assistant to Mrs. Jonathan on Media, Ayo Osinlu claimed the report was a calculated attempt to sustain Mr. Amaechi’s travails in public domain, as well as to explore the possibility of swinging public sympathy in his favour.
Although Nigeria’s first ladies are not recognized in the constitution, they have been reputed to wield enormous influence over state and party organs and are considered most powerful outside of the president – former first lady Hajia Turai Yar’Adua put such powers to effect at the height of her husband’s terminal illness.
It would be recalled that before his present travails became ominous, Governor Amaechi had engaged the first lady who is from Rivers in an exchange of words over some of his policies in the state.
The statement by Mr. Osinlu reads in part: “It has again come to our notice that a new twist has been introduced to the carefully orchestrated scheme to anchor the political fortunes or survival of certain embattled politicians on a deliberate demonization of the First Lady, Dame (Dr.) Patience Goodluck Jonathan.”
The statement quoted the report in Leadership Newspaper of 30/05/2013 as alleging that the first lady influenced Amaechi’s suspension from the PDP which it considered as “laughable” and questioned  “on what platform? Within what contexts? In what capacity?” Dame Patience could have given instructions on positions of the party.
It continues, “We consider it a most unbecoming insolence, to say the least DISRESPECTFUL, of any one to suggest that the whole of the Peoples Democratic Party was led by the nose and influenced by a private interest, in a matter that so evidently borders on party discipline and administration.
“Only recently, we were compelled to make a statement, warning those who have become specialists in looping their self-induced political travails around the First Lady, to develop another strategy for their survival.
“This was when another vicious lie was circulated that Her Excellency had, again, “summoned” service chiefs in Rivers State, and instructed them to be firmer in handling the Rivers matter.
“Let us state once again, that the First Lady is not an elected official of state, neither is she a party functionary. She therefore recognizes very clearly her place in the scheme of things and acts always accordingly within context.
“In our safe estimation, the whole of this is a conscious calculation to sustain the issue of Governor Amaechi in full public view, as well as to explore the possibility of keeping public sympathy in his favour.”
The statement strongly frowned at the use of the first lady’s name by the Amaechi camp in a frantic bid for political survival and relevance which it said “is not only dubious, but also diversionary, unfair, unkind, and therefore totally unacceptable.
“We wish to warn that if this trend continues in the near and distant future, we may be constrained to take action within legally permissible limits to protect the integrity of the office and person of the First Lady”.

Supreme Court Dismisses Former Ekiti Governor's Appeal

Kayode Fayemi
By SaharaReporters, New York
The Supreme Court today finally settled the electoral feud between a former governor of Ekiti State, Olusegun Oni and the incumbent, Kayode Fayemi by affirming Mr. Fayemi as the rightful winner of the 2007 governorship election in the state.
A five-man panel of the court led by Justice Sylvester Ngwuta stated in their decision that Mr. Oni's appeal who sought to exploit the judicial crisis at the Court of Appeal, lacked merit and thus dismissed his appeal. Mr. Oni had complained to the court that new evidence available to him showed that he was denied a fair hearing according to section 36 of the Nigerian constitution because the court of Appeal that threw him out of office was biased. He then prayed the court to revisit the judgement.
However, the Supreme Court judges unanimously decided that Mr. Oni's appeal was an attempt to sneak back into the Ekiti State government house    through the back door as he knew that the Court of Appeal was the court of last resort with  jurisdiction to try the matter conclusively.
The court dismissed Oni's appeal but awarded no costs.

Dana plane crash: Minister explains delay in paying compensation to victims’ families

Only 30 per cent of the compensation for the families of the victim of the Dana Crash has been paid.
The Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah, on Thursday said that legal tussle and lack of proper documentation from the families of the Dana plane crash victims delayed the payment of compensation.
Ms. Oduah spoke at the 2013 Aviation Safety Week in Abuja.
She said there was speedy process to ensure that all the families of the victim of the June 3, 2013 crash got their claims. She said that the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, was working with the airline on the compensation, adding that some families had been paid.
The minister said that the airline had paid more than 30 per cent of the claims. She said that the ministry and other stakeholders would not rest until every claim was verified and all families fully compensated in accordance with the law and existing regulations.
Ms. Oduah said stakeholders had been working round the clock to ensure the timely payment of the claims to the families. She said Lagos State granted waivers on the mandatory requirements for the processing of claims to lighten the burden of bereaved family members.
The Dana air mishap of June 3, 2012, claimed the lives of 153 people on board the aircraft as well as about 10 victims on the ground.
Ms. Oduah said that the Accident Investigation and Prevention Bureau, AIPB, would soon release the final report of the cause of the crash.
She said that the Federal Government would erect a memorial cenotaph at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, to commemorate the first anniversary of the incident.
Ms. Oduah said the ministry had implemented the recommendations by the Technical and Administrative Review Panel on Domestic Airlines, TARPDA.
TARPDA was set up by President Goodluck Jonathan to investigate the cause of the plane crash and advised the government on ways to curb future occurrence.
The Special Adviser to the President on Aviation Reform, Ann Ene-Ita, said safety is paramount to the industry. She said that the government would not relent on ensuring that aviation achieved safety in Nigeria.
All the heads of agencies under the ministry also promised to keep working on the safety in the industry.
They include Anthony Anuforom of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NIMET; Acting Director-General, NCAA, Joyce Nkemakolam and the Managing Director, Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, NAMA, Nnamani Udoh.

2015 Election: Anenih seeks automatic PDP ticket for Jonathan, others

The PDP said it will resolve its present crisis.
The Chairman of the Board of Trustees, BoT, of the Peoples Democratic Party, Tony Anenih, has proposed an automatic second term ticket for incumbent president and governors who perform well in office, thus seeking to boycott the usual primaries.
This he said is to avoid the hassles that go with the party primaries, especially for executive positions.
Speaking at a dinner organised by President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday night, for the “PDP family” at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Mr. Anenih said the internal problem of the party must be urgently handled if Nigerians must take the party serious.
The proposal by Mr. Anenih, if accepted by the party, would mean that President Goodluck Jonathan would be unchallenged for the PDP presidential ticket in 2015.
Mr. Anenih is one of the most influential member of the PDP and holds one of its highest positions as BoT chairman. He is believed to have emerged BoT chairman based on Mr. Jonathan’s support.
His proposal must however be adopted by the parties structures including the National Working Committee, National Executive Committee, and Convention for it to become a rule.
Mr. Anenih added that the ongoing problems in the Nigerian Governors Forum, NGF, which has seen the emergence of two chairmen, both of whom are from the PDP, “is an embarrassing situation which must be urgently addressed.”
PDP won’t tolerate NGF crisis
Mr. Anenih also cautioned the PDP to solve its internal crisis or risk losing the support of Nigerians.
“I believe the challenges facing the party are temporary and at the end of the day we will come out stronger. But if we want to continue to enjoy the support of Nigerians; if we create tension in the country as a result of the problems in our party and expect Nigerians to continue to support and applaud us, it is not possible,” he said.
The Edo politician also said the party would not tolerate the NGF crisis.
“As party leaders, we must commit ourselves to repositioning the party. It is an embarrassment what is happening in the Nigeria Governors Forum. It is an embarrassing situation which must be urgently addressed. The leadership of the party will not tolerate a situation where it will preside over a divided house.
“We need a strong party. If a party is strong and there is discipline and those who work hard are rewarded, our government will be stronger. Our problems are not insurmountable. After the tour of the board of trustees, we will collate the opinions and make appropriate recommendations to the president as leader of the party. But what I would like to say is that the president and governors who are seeking their second term should be given automatic tickets to contest the second term,” he said.
The Chairman of the party, Bamanga Tukur, who announced that those present at the event were the “Happy, contended” family of PDP under his watch, urged members of the party to imbibe the culture of discipline as the party can only grow “if we imbibe the culture of discipline, justice and equity”.
Mark seeks automatic ticket too
In his remark, the Senate President, David Mark, also called for members of the parliament to be given automatic ticket in order to strengthen the parliament.
He also urged members not to take the opposition for granted saying “if they are not there that means we are not working, they want to be where we are because we are doing well”.
In his remarks, President Goodluck Jonathan thanked members of the party for their commitment adding that there was no need for members of the party to panic because re-groupings by opposition parties.
“If the opposition is holding meetings everyday, then you should smile. If the opposition starts applauding the president, there is problem. PDP will endure because it was not built based on conspiracy against anybody. We believe in this country,” he said.
He added that the disagreements within the PDP was not abnormal for such a large family, as there are bound to be disagreements which would be resolved. He also said the idea of the family dinner had been thought up by himself and the party chairman who had seen it as an opportunity for party members to interact and exchange ideas.
Speaking on the presentation of his scorecard the previous day, the President said he had just been told that the National Assembly was already working on a bill that will ensure that the president presents a scorecard every July.
The event was attended by Governors of Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Delta, Ebonyi, Abia, Bayelsa, Kogi, Taraba, Enugu and Deputy governors of Niger and Benue State.
Other attendees include Mr. Mark, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal; Mr. Anenih; Mr. Tukur; the PDP state chairmen as well as other PDP stalwarts.

Drunk Driver ‘Was Having S*X While Speeding, Caused Crash That Sent His Unclad Partner Flying Out Of The Car’

sex575757

A 25-year-old man is facing multiple charges after police said he was drunkenly having s*x with a woman while driving, right before he crashed his car and then ran from police. Luis Briones was found with one shoe on and his shorts on inside-out Monday night, hiding in a cactus, after he crashed his Ford Explorer in the 2600 block of Pennsylvania NE on Monday night.
Briones’ female passenger was found unclad outside the vehicle after being ejected. She had deep cuts to her face and head, but was in stable condition when she was sent to the hospital, police said. Police said Briones was heading north on Pennsylvania when he ran a red light and struck a car heading westbound on Menaul NE.
“Mr. Briones was observed to be having s*xual intercourse with the passenger and sped off… at a high rate of speed,” the Albuquerque police officer wrote in a criminal complaint. “Their activities presented a danger to others in the roadway as exhibited by the accident.” Witnesses told police Briones was clearly drunk when he got out of his car, and officers found a partially full bottle of vodka in the vehicle.
When Briones tried to drive away from the scene, leaving his passenger behind, a witness grabbed his keys from the ignition. That’s when Briones tried to take cover in a cactus, where he later refused police demands and became hostile with paramedics and others, police said.
When Briones was in the police car, he refused to keep his pants on, police said. Riones was booked into Metropolitan Detention Center early Tuesday morning on a no-bond hold. He’s facing charges including aggravated DWI, reckless driving and evading police.

Man Found Dead In House Full Of Snakes.

snakes_m_1736449a

COPS looking for a missing man were shocked to find him dead in his home — surrounded by over FORTY giant snakes.

Many of the reptiles, including a 30ft anaconda and four 35ft pythons, were slithering free around the decomposing body when police entered snake fan Heiko Rieder’s apartment in Straubing, Germany.
A fire service spokesman said: “At least one was as thick as a human thigh.”

reptiles
Worried colleagues alerted police after the 40-year-old caretaker failed to turn up to work for a week.
It is thought he died from a heart attack while feeding his pets.
Experts believe he was only saved from being eaten as he was too WIDE to be swallowed whole.
Reptile centre boss Markus Baur, now caring for the snakes, said: “They probably didn’t eat him for two reasons. One, they prefer their prey alive to start with.
“And two, they like to eat their prey whole and the average European adult is just too long and wide for that.”
In total, 46 snakes, some in tanks, were recovered from the property.
A police spokesman said: “His body decomposed rapidly because of the heat coming from the snakes’ terrariums. There don’t appear to be any suspicious circumstances.”

Woman Dies During Orgy

                                  Slain College Student

Police in New Hampshire are investigating claims that a college student believed to be dead was murdered during a group s*xual encounter, CBS Boston reports.
Authorities continue to search for the body of Elizabeth “Lizzie” Marriott, who possibly suffered a fatal suffocation while having s*x with her suspected killer, Seth Mazzaglia, and another woman.
On Saturday, prosecutors charged Mazzaglia, 29, with the second-degree murder of Marriott, who vanished last week and whose body remains unfound, according to the Associated Press.
Marriott, a student at the University of New Hampshire, was last seen on Oct. 9 after attending an evening class in Durham.
Authorities say that they expect additional arrests to be made, but Associate Attorney General Jane Young said Wednesday that investigators are still building their case.
“We bring a charge when there’s evidence,” Young told the Portsmouth Herald. “What I maintain in this case, is if the evidence brings us to the fact that another person was or other persons were involved then other charges would be brought.”
The search for Marriott’s body is ongoing, spanning the coasts of Massachusetts and Maine.
“At this point, [she] could be anywhere,” said Young, according to Patch.

Owners Of Amigo Stores, Tahir Hotel Arrested

JTF INSPECT ARM

The military Joint Task Force (JTF) has arrested a Lebanese co-owner of Amigo Supermarket and Wonderland Amusement Park in Abuja, Fauzi Fawaz, following his alleged implication in ownership of a large cache of weapons of different types and calibre.
A report also indicated that a Lebanese owner of Tahir Palace Hotel in Kano, Tahir Fadallah, had also been arrested over his alleged involvement in the import of weapons.
But as at press time, there was a conflicting report on whether or not Fadallah had been arrested.
According to a military source, one of the suspects had been linked to a serving governor in one of the north–west states.
The weapons were uncovered at an underground bunker at No. 3 Gaya Road, off Bompai Road in Kano, after a combined team of the JTF involving soldiers from 3 Brigade in Kano and Kano DSS conducted a thorough search of the bunker.
Another Lebanese, Talal Roda, with a Nigerian passport, was said to have been arrested at the underground bunker by the military operatives.
The weapons recovered include anti-tank weapons, rocket-propelled guns, anti-tank/anti-personnel mines and other dangerous weapons. All the arms and ammunition recovered were properly concealed with several layers of concrete and placed in coolers, drums and bags neatly wrapped.
The discovery of the weapons also confirms the existence of Hezbollah terrorist cells in Nigeria.
The owner of Amigo Supermarket was arrested on May 16, 2013, and he was said to have implicated the owner of Tahir Palace Hotel.
Kano State director of the State Security Service, Mr Bassey Etang, also revealed that the owner of the weapons discovered has Hezbollah links.
All those arrested have confessed to have undergone Hezbullah terrorism training and further implicated one Fauzi Fawaz, also a co-owner of Amigo Supermarket and Wonderland Amusement Park.
The arms and ammunition were targeted at facilities of Israeli and Western interest in Nigeria. However, the security agencies are making frantic efforts to unveil the true situation.
LEADERSHIP gathered that the house where the weapons were uncovered was less than 500 meters away from the Kano State police headquarters, Bompai, and Immigration and Customs headquarters.
While conducting journalists round the house, the state SSS director, Bassey Etang, described the discovery as a huge success. He said the owner of the house, who is still at large, could be a dangerous terrorist with the ill-intention to attack Nigeria’s interest in disguise of attacking Israeli or foreign interests.
LEADERSHIP witnessed the deceitful way the man at large stockpiled the weaponry inside a hole about 12 feet deep in his master bedroom. It was observed that some cupboards attached to the wall in some parts of the house contained a stock of guns and armoury.
LEADERSHIP saw ammunition, dynamites used to make explosives and containers used in stocking the ammunition. AK 47 rifles were in large quantity and there were weapons that were not usually seen in the hands of even insurgents or armed robbers.
Meanwhile, the brigade commander, 3rd Brigade, Nigerian Army, Brig-Gen IIyasu   Abba, has described the cache of weapons as equal to weapons of mass destructions, considering their quantities and nature.
The 3rd Brigade commander added that the investigation that led to the discovery started in Abuja by the SSS and it was as a result of an arrest of a suspect.
Abba said among the weapons discovered during the operation on Tuesday were 17 AK 47 rifles, 44 magazines, four land mines and 12 RPG bombs, 14 RPG charger, 11 66 mm anti-tanks weapons, one SMG magazine, one pistol and magazine.
Also, 11, 433 rounds of 7.26 mm special, 76 hand grenade, rocket-propelled guns, 122-calibre artillery and anti-mines weapons were recovered.
“What you are seeing here are weapons of mass destruction in terms of our situation here right now in Nigeria. If these things had been brought out, only God knows the type of destruction they would cause to innocent persons in the state or in the country,’’ he said.
He said the Department of State Security Service (SSS) in Abuja had been investigating the case for a long time.
State director of the SSS Mr Ettang said that the three suspects had a link to the Hezbollah group in Lebanon.
According to him, the suspects have for a long time been using the bunker in the house to stockpile arms and ammunition.
He restated the commitment of the SSS and other security agencies to continue with the ongoing war on criminals nationwide.

How Abdullahi Tahini was arrested at Kano airport
On hearing the news of arms discovery, Abdullahi Tahini, a close accomplice of Tahir Fadallah, made a call to one Ibrahim Musty, who is a manager of one of Fadallah’s cafe and ice cream joint.
Tahini also promised Musty $20, 000 if he could arrange his safe trip out of the country through the afternoon Egypt Air scheduled for Cairo.
Musty agreed and promised to ensure Tahini’s safe trip out of the country but, unknown to Tahini, Musty himself had been under surveillance and had been in contact with the men of the JTF in the state.
Tahini refused to tell Musty his whereabouts until he had assured him of his tickets and travel details. He then asked Musty to meet him at the BQ of a travel agency along Airport Road in Kano.
Musty met him there and drove Tahini straight to the JTF men who were waiting at the airport.
A reliable source told LEADERSHIP that the Ukrainian cargo plane full of arms that was impounded in Kano in 2009 had a strong link with Tahir Fadallah.
The Lebanese kingpin used his connection to wriggle out of the mess then but has been on the watchful eye of the security service ever since.
Security operatives attached to the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) had on the early morning of July 17, 2009, impounded a Ukrainian cargo plane loaded with a range of sophisticated weapons.
The cargo plane with registration number UR-CAK and a crew of four made a technical landing in Kano at about 2am on that day.
Security sources at the airport said that the circumstances of the landing made curious security operatives on duty to undertake a full search of the cargo plane and its contents.
It was further gathered that, in the course of the search, the security operatives discovered and assorted sophisticated arms and ammunition in several quantities.
Consequently, all four crew members were arrested and taken out of public glare, ostensibly for questioning. A Nigerian, Ibrahim Musty (he was not manager then), the same manager of Fadallah’s ice cream shop, claimed to be a clearing agent was seen making frantic moves to secure the release of the cargo plane. He was also taken into custody then.

Speaking to the Sun, Victoria admitted, "I can't put make-up on when Harper's around because she would join me immediately."

Now a busy mum-of-four and a top fashion designer, you might think Victoria has enough on her plate. But at the start of the year, she confessed she would still "never say never about another baby".

"It's a juggling act — a career, family, a husband who's busy," she said. "But I'd never say never!"

Certainly her children seem to be getting used to having parents in the public eye. Victoria, 39, recently revealed a touching moment with her youngest son Cruz, who asked why it was good to be famous. "When you're famous, you have a certain power to do good things" she replied.

"That is how we started talking about charity. Cruz was really sweet and said, 'When people listen to what I say, I could spread some good messages."

Of her elder sons, Brooklyn and Romeo, Victoria acknowledged that her "kids are under alot of pressure to perform."

While Romeo, 10, is currently the face of French fashion house, Burberry, his older brother Brooklyn, 14, has been linked to Queens Park Rangers Football Club.

"I don't want to pressure them," continued their mother. "They should be keen and reach as much as possible. But the most important thing is they are happy".

"They lead a very privileged life but they don't get everything they ask for. We always tell them how lucky they are"

Labour in Rivers denies obtaining bribe to go on strike

on MAY 31, 2013 ·

PORT HARCOURT — TRADE Union congress, TUC, Rivers State chapter, has described as untrue, allegations in some quarters that labour unions were offered N100 million by the state government to go on strike over the closure of Obio/ Akpor Local Government Area secretariat by the Police.
It will be recalled that TUC and the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, embarked on a two-day warning strike early in the week, to press home their call for the Police to allow work resume at Obio/Akpor council  secretariat.
The state Chairman of TUC, Mr. Chika Unuegbu, who spoke to  journalists at  the  Rivers State delegates’ conference of  TUC Women Commission election in Port Harcourt, said labour  had a meeting with the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Joseph Mbu, after the warning strike,  where they  re-echoed their demand.
According to him, they made it clear to the Police boss that they were not an interested party in the political crisis that had engulfed the council,  adding that all they wanted was for Police to allow workers resume, so that their salaries for April and May could be paid.
He said they told the Commissioner that staff of the council were the worst affected by the action of the Police.
Unuegbu said NLC  had  also written to the state government before the warning strike  to appoint the Head of Local Government Administration of the council to run the place pending the determination of the suits filed by the Caretaker Committee  and  the suspended elected officials of the council.

Impeaching Amaechi won’t guarantee Jonathan’s re-election – Esogban of Benin

on MAY 31, 2013 ·

BENIN — The Esogban of Benin Kingdom and chairman of Benin Forum, Chief David Edebiri, yesterday, said that impeaching Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, will not guarantee a second term ticket for President Goodluck Jonathan.
He urged the President to give the people the dividends of democracy by ensuring steady power, industrialisation and tackle security challenges, rather than fight political battles with governors over 2015 presidential election.
Speaking to Vanguard,  the elder statesman, who disagreed with the assertion by President Jonathan that his administration had performed creditably well, said: “I am not totally in agreement that democracy is already here in Nigeria.
We are working towards achieving true democracy but it has really not come. A typical example of that is the current issue of the election of Nigeria Governors Forum, where 35 people met to elect one man and the aftermath now is a disputation as to what happened and what did not happen.
“I think if the President wants to come back as President, he does not need all the current rigmarole that is going on. Let him give the Nigerians good governance. Let him make Nigeria one of the countries of the world where electricity is constant.”
