STF Confirms 20 Killed, 100 Cattle Rustled In Plateau Villages

The Special Task Force (STF) in Plateau State has confirmed that over 20 persons were killed in villages of Riyom and Barkin Ladi of Plateau State this week alone.
Also, 25 cattle are said to have  been killed, while over 100 were rustled around Tan Jol , Gilgrare , Dan , Gero, Gyal, Rim and Joil, Tashek  communities of Riyom and Barkin Ladi local government areas of the state.
STF, in a statement made available to LEADERSHIP WEEKEND and signed by its spokesman, Capt. Salisu Mustapha, said that on Sunday at 1:30pm, gunmen ambushed and attacked some cattle, killing three and injuring three in Riyom.
The statement also stated that on Monday, at 11:30 pm, gunmen attacked Dakum village in Riyom LGA and killed 8 persons and injured 1, adding that 19 cattle were killed and six others had gunshots wounds at Tanjol , Rim and Gilgrare settlements of the council,  while the assailants killed seven persons and burnt houses at Tanjol.
The statement added that the situation had been brought under control as men of the STF were in the area conducting robust patrol to ensure no further attack on innocent people.
“Commander of the STF led a security team yesterday comprising of AIG zone 4 and the state commissioner of police to assess the security situation. STF will leave no stone upturned in fishing out the perpetrators of this dastardly act,’’ the statement added.
