IPP: Heavy Equipment To Move To Oghareki Soon

THE movement of the Independent Power Project (IPP) heavy equipment to its’ project site at Oghareki, in Ethiope  East Local Government, Delta State, would  commence soon, following the completion of the bridge and the upgrading of the narrow road.
Hon. Solomon Funkekeme, the state Commissioner for Works who dropped the hint, during the inspection of the Oghareki-Ajagbodudu 18.2km road and bridge project, said that the delay in the movement of the IPP equipment to project site was due to the poor state of the culvert which has been re-designed to carry the pressure of the heavy equipment. He said the narrow road has also been up-graded.
Hon. Funkekeme who inspected the project together with Mr. Charles Emetulu, Commissioner for Energy, said that in two weeks time, the bridge would be ready for use. He, however, expressed satisfaction with the pace of the project and its standard.
Mr. Emetulu said that with the completion of the bridge and accessibility of the road, the heavy equipment would be moved to the project site in a month’s time and according to him, the state government, has acquired a N14 billion equipment for the realisation of the project which would generate 120 megawatts.
At the Refinery in Warri, Hon. Funkekeme expressed satisfaction with the progress of work, especially its quality, adding that it would be delivered in a month’s time. At Avenue road by Estate, he inspected the asphalting of the project.  Also inspected wss the on-going Edumogiren Street, Effurun project.
He cautioned the residents of Messiah Anglican Church road on the dangers associated with the disruption of public projects, while he stressed on the benefits of access roads. He warned trouble makers saying, ‘’no community can hold the state government to ransom by disrupting the progress of projects’’.
For effective completion of the Abose road project in Ovade Oghara, according to specification, he ordered for the closure of the road for 28 days to curb traffic disruption of the work.
