The state government also announced the opening of employment data bank for unemployed youths to access and has the opportunity of gaining employment and other empowerment schemes in the state.
Speaking in Yenagoa at the end of the state executive council meeting, the commissioner of science and technology, Dame Didi Walson-Jack, explained that the lifting of the embargo on recruitment into the civil service started with the recruitment of over 300 science teachers in the state.
Walson-Jack said that though the present administration was discussing with some banks including the United Bank for Africa towards the employment of 200 middle level staff, the government had set up an entrepreneurial capacity development committee last December to ensure proper empowerment of youths in businesses and create wealth.

We also have SEEDs for state. It is expected that this project will empower our youths and will also assist in the construction of 66km roads.
“We also believe in the training of youths for employment and we have six training projects. We have already sent out 500 youths for training in Songhai for farming. We also have over 1,000 youths for ICT training with Industrial Training Fund (ITF) to help them get employment opportunities in companies. Another is that of 15 youths for School of Survey in Oyo and they will gain automatic employment in the state.”
