Nigerian Fans Throw Weight Behind Eagles Ahead Friday's Match With Zambia

Nigerian fans in South Africa have been garnering supports for the Super Eagles ahead of Friday's Group C Match with Zambia which will be decided by Referee Ghead Grisha.

Our correspondent reports that several Nigerians are now moving to Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit where the Eagles will battle with Zambia, the defending champion, in a match that will kick off at 4pm local time.

Placards stating that the Eagles should not be robbed like the earlier match played against Burkina Faso on Monday evening are also being displayed by Nigerian residents in Johannesburg.

It would be recalled that Nigeria played a draw of 1–1 with Burkina Faso in the opening match of Group C when Alain Traore slid home in the 94th minute as the Super Eagles failed to stop Jonathan Pitroipa's cutback.

Earlier on, Emmanuel Emenike had opened the scoring after 23 minutes, showing great hunger to latch onto Ideye Brown's flick.

Meanwhile, members of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club have voiced their disappointment at Monday’s Super Eagles’ 1 – 1 draw with the Stallions of Burkina Faso at the ongoing AFCON.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the Super Eagles had to fight relentlessly to hold onto their slim one goal lead after Efe Ambrose was shown a red after bagging a second yellow card.

After he was sent off, the Nigerian team had to contend with the rampaging Stallions who used their numerical advantage to torment the Eagles, until they scored their equaliser.

Following the development, Dr Rafiu Oladipo blamed the team for loss of concentration and expressed his reservation over the referee’s performance during the match.

``Why for God’s sake have we refused to learn from our bitter experiences of the past? I expected our players to hold onto the ball for as long as possible, to frustrate their opponents.

``This is the job of the coach and the team’s physiologists, which have been missing in our matches in the last two year
