2 dead as trailler rams into building
PORT HARCOURT – A truck rammed into a building along Airport Road, Igwuruta, Rivers State Tuesday leaving two dead and one wounded.
The dead include driver of the trailer number plated RIVERS A 630 KNK and an occupant of the building he crashed into.
The vehicle loaded with pipes was said to be coming from Owerre and heading for Port Harcourt when it lost control at Igwuruta and rammed into the building.
Margret Amadi, an occupant of the hit building who survived the accident said, “I am a stylist.
I was working with three colleagues when we heard a loud sound. We all fainted and regained consciousness to realize the building had collapsed on us from the impact. We survived but one neighbour was not so lucky”
Another occupant of the building who runs a bear pallor claimed losing over million naira worth of goods damaged over the accident, but angry Chukwuma who owns an electronic shop in same building declined comments “Until the truck owner surfaces.”
A youth leader in the community, Johnson Chiwendu said, “We have to take drastic action against truck drivers plying this road. Last time it was a Dangote truck crashing into a building and killing two too. It is one truck crashing into living homes to many.”
