Uduaghan Decries Vandalisation Of Government Projects

Delta State Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan has decried the high spate of vandalisation of government projects and warned that communities would be held responsible for any vandalised projects in their areas.
Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan who gave this warning yesterday [24-6-13] while inspecting government projects in Warri and environs frowned at the vandalization of some newly constructed schools and warned that government will no longer tolerate such  backward act.
He admonished communities to protect government projects in their areas
At Ogedegbe Primary School, Warri, winners of the just concluded 2013 Channels National Kids Cup Competition, his first port of call, Governor Uduaghan said that the state government had spent so much in the construction of schools and other projects and that it was only proper for them to be protected by benefitting communities.
“Government will longer tolerate the vandalization of its projects; community where projects are vandalized will henceforth be held responsible. We have a bill in the House of Assembly that will give us power to execute that and as soon as it is ready we will ensure that we enforce it to check the excesses of those who see government project as something that they can toil with. Imagine some of the schools we have built recently people are already destroying them. This is not good,” he stated.
He added that “It is high time communities rise up to the occasion and begin to protect  government projects sited in their area. If we don’t take care of the projects the people will be affected because the projects are meant to serve the people.”
Governor Uduaghan who also inspected the Refinery Road project in Effurun being constructed by ARC Construction Limited expressed satisfaction with the level of work done so far and described the road as a star project.
He urged  the contractor to expedite action to speed up work on the project to ensure its early completion. When asked when the Refinery Road will be commissioned, Governor Uduaghan jokingly said, “It will be commissioned during my next birth day,”.
Other projects inspected, included Igbudu Primary School, Dore Numa College, the beautification and expansion of Enerhen Junction, rehabilitation of pipelines for the Warri Comprehensive water projects amongst others.
Meanwhile Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan has restated  government’s commitment in creating conducive environment for investors, explaining  that oil companies that fled the state some years back were now returning.
Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan who said this yesterday [24-6-13] in Warri while on an inspection visit to the Expansion and beautification of Enerehen Junction Project, urged the people of the town to maintain the existing peace and security as government would continue to provide infrastructure that would attract new investments to Warri and environs.
His Words “ the move by the state government is already paying off as some companies will start relocating back to the area as from next week. I wish to advises you to ensure that the existing peace and security is maintianed.”
He said government is doing every thing possible to creat the conducive atmosphere that would guarantee investment hence the numerous projects being carried out across the state. He added that the infrastructure being put in place would be meaningless If there is no food on the table of Deltans.
He blamed the relocation of companies on community disturbances, saying that it is high time communities begins to develop the culture of hospitable disposition that will encourage companies to do business in their area. He said his joy is that Shell left but did not take away the oil that is in our land.
“You are all aware that She’ll has relocated from Warri. They got tired and that was why they left. But they only relocated but they did not go with our oil. We have people that are not tired, they are coming. But I am begging all of you let us not make them tired. I hope you are listening.
By God grace, Warri will come up more than as it was before. The coming up I am talking about is the one that will engage all of us because even if I dualize this road and put air condition here and there is no food to eat, I believe you all will curse me.”
“That is the reason government is embarking on the initiative called “Delta Beyond Oil”. So government is doing everything possible to bring back all the companies that relocated from Warri. Governor Uduaghan stated.
He further advised gthe communities to ensure good working relationship with companies in their areas, promising that government would play its part in providing infrastructure.
