Ekiti 2014 election, a forgone conclusion —Govt

Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi
Ekiti State Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mr. Tayo Ekundayo, has said the Ekiti 2014 governorship election is a “foregone conclusion.”
He said this on Tuesday during a courtesy visit to Punch Nigeria Limited in Magboro, Ogun State.
Ekundayo listed the achievements by the current state administration in education, infrastructure, agriculture, health and tourism as evidence that the current government in the state would win the 2014 election.
He  said, “The 2014 governorship election is a forgone conclusion. Ekiti people are smart and intelligent and would prefer continuity of the current administration.”
Ekundayo, who did not regard himself as a typical politician but a technocrat, attributed the development in Lagos State to the uninterrupted rule by Action Congress of Nigeria since 1999.
He said, “Ekiti State’s current administration is prudent. Necessity helps us to manage our funds. And we have done much with the little we have. When Governor Kayode Fayemi took over, we were ranked 35th in the revenue chart of the country, a position just before the last. But we did not let that deter us; we have taken up an eight-point agenda which subsumes plans to develop different sectors in Ekiti State.
“We have constructed about 1,000km of road network in the state. No part of Ekiti State can be described as distant anymore. And Ekiti people have said the road intervention is unprecedented. It is funny and ironic that the good road network has posed challenges, because we had to construct speed-breakers to avoid excessive speeding.”
The Commissioner added that the “unattractiveness” of agriculture to youths was a “looming problem” in the country.
