Suspected Thugs Attack Shekarau’s Residence In Kano
Hoodlums suspected to be political thugs believed to be loyal to Senator Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya allegedly attacked the residence of former Kano State Governor, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau in the night of Sunday over his rejection of Gaya’s nomination to serve as APC national vice president, North West.
LEADERSHIP gathered that on Sunday as early as 11:00 am all the All Nigerian Peoples Party’s (ANPP’s) bigwigs in the state gathered at Shekarau’s residence at Mundubawa quarters, Nassarawa to discuss the political development with regards to the sharing of national party positions by their new party, APC.
According to a source close to Senator Kabiru, Bashir Adamu Gaya, said APC at national level had shared leadership positions of the party across the 36 states of the federation, and had given the position of member board of trustees to Malam Ibrahim Shekarau and the position of party national vice chairman, North West to Senator Kabiru Ibrahim.
To the dismay of Kabiru Gaya’s loyalists at the meeting Bashir Gaya said that the former Kano governor rejected the nomination of Senator Gaya and replaced him with Senator Aminu Sule Garo.
It was gathered that Malam Shekarau’s reason for rejecting the senator’s appointment was that the post was too insignificant for the person of Kabiru Gaya,as according to Malam Shekarau, Senator Gaya was too big for the job considering the post he had held in his political life.
This decision was not taken lightly by Senator Gaya’s loyalists at the meeting and his supporters who gathered outside Shekarau’s house.
When contacted, the ex-governor’s spokesperson, Mr. Sule Ya’u Sule told LEADERSHIP during a telephone interview that the story is not true. Nothing like that happened.
Muhammad Tudun Wuzurchi told LEADERSHIP that it was about 11:00 pm when he was passing by Shekarau’s residence on Sunday, he saw a group of angry youth around the house uttering words of disloyalty and disaffection to the former Kano governor.
Tudun Wuzurchi said that he saw some youths throwing stones directly into Shekarau’s residence.
Our source confirmed that the ANPP 18 member team re -submitted their resolution to the meeting which nominated Senator Gaya as national vice president, North West and Malam Shekarau as member board of trustees of the APC at national level.
It was confirmed that the submission was unanimously agreed and was sent to APC headquarters in Abuja for final approval.
In another development, the head of media committee to ACN, Gidado Ahmad Satatima said they were informed that Malam Shekarau has connived with some party members at different levels to yet substitute Senator Gaya’s name.
Gidado said he was happy to announce that the party leadership at national level has withdrawn the nomination of both Gaya and Shekarau.
This saga is now changing the political atmosphere of ANPP, ACN merger in Kano State.
