Niger Govt. revokes road contracts, awards N39.3bn contract for electrification
The Niger Government on Thursday announced the revocation of contracts for six road projects under the government’s 10km  Road per Local Government programme.
The Niger Commissioner for Works, Alhaji Muazu Bawa, made the announcement after state executive council at Government House, Minna.
Bawa said the contracts were revoked because of poor performance by the contractors.
He listed the affected local government areas as Shiroro, Gbako, Kontagora, Rafi, Magama and Bida.
He said the contracts would be re -awarded to competent contractors, who had completed their jobs.
Bawa commended the Federal Government for awarding the contract for the construction of the 86km  Kontagora-Rijau Road after it was abandoned for 20 years by past administrations.
Meanwhile, he said the state government had awarded a N39.3 billion contract for the extension of  electrification from the FM radio station in Maitumbi town near Minna to Gurusu Village.
