Delta Govt. stops salaries of 47 teaching and non teaching staff for absenteeism
Delta Government has directed its Post Primary Education Board to stop payment of salaries of 47 teaching and non teaching staff of two secondary schools in the state for absent from duty.
The schools are Ubeji Secondary School in Warri in South Local Government Area and Ophorigbala Secondary Schools, Ughelli South Local Government Area of the state.
The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Prof. Patrick Muoboghare gave the directive in a letter to the Permanent Secretary of the Board on Wednesday in Asaba.
Muobpghare said that 38 of the staff were teaching and non teaching staff from Ubeji Secondary School, Warri, while the other nine were from Ophorigbala Secondary Schools, Ughelli.
The commissioner said that the staff concerned must prove that they were genuine staff of their schools before the payment of their salaries would be restored.
