Kogi Sacks Council Bosses Ahead Of Polls
Ahead of the May 5 Local Government elections in Kogi State , Governor Idris Wada has dissolved the interim management team for the 21 councils in the state .
The dissolution followed the public outcry over their continued stay in office with election around the corner.
Wada gave the approval for the dissolution on Monday when he directed the Liaison officers to hand over to their Directors of Local Government in their respective councils
The liaison officers were appointed last year to oversee the affairs of the council pending the conduct of fresh elections.
Prior to the dissolution, there had been unconfirmed reports that Liaison officer 1 had told the governor to dissolve the Liaison officer 11 along side with them as they did not have confidence in them.
The dissolution drew mixed reactions from some members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who believed that the governor had finally caved in to the pressure from Liaison officer 1 who had been insisting on the dissolution.
Speaking to the press immediately after the dissolution, the chairman of PDP in the state, Alhaji Hassan Salau, said that the dissolution was to give equal opportunities to all the candidates.
He appealed to aspirants on the platform of the party to work hard to ensure that the party wins all the council areas in the coming elections.
