FRSC and road accidents

OCTOBER 23, 2013

FRSC Corps Marshal, Osita Chidoka
The Federal Road Safety Corps has said over 90 per cent of road crashes in the country are attributable to human errors, stating that they were not acts of God.
Comments:
El-abang Ofre: The causes of autocrashes are multi-factorial; we should shift our focus from drivers’ recklessness and greed for more money from multiple trips in a day to focusing on the dilapidated roads caused by corruption.
Lotima: Federal Road Safety Corps are partly to blame for major accidents on our roads. Someone needs to tell Nigerians, what the roles and responsibilities of the FRSC are. The word “safety” means care, welfare, and protection. If so, why is the agency not reporting deep pot-holes which dot the majority of Nigerian roads to the right authorities?
We see the FRSC more on the highways than Federal Ministry of Works, but, they are there busy checking documents.
Segun: Thank God, a sensible person has told us that accidents are not an act of God but due to human recklessness. It is now left for us to put more thoughtful persons in positions of authority who hopefully would work hard to ensure that our country is ‘accident free’.
