Warri mayhem: Community leader seeks culprits’ arrest

JULY 6, 2013

Delta State Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan
The National Chairman, Ogbinbiri Federated Communities, Mr. Joel Bisina, has called on security operatives to go after those behind the recent disturbances and killings in Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State.
He also urged the state governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, to ensure a holistic investigation that would uncover those behind the mayhem.
Bisina, who is the convener of peace meetings of the Egbema Ijaw in Warri North Local Government Area, was among those on the wanted list of alleged culprits of the unfortunate incident.
However, he dissociated himself from the crisis, saying that he had committed his life to the promotion of peace in Warri and could not have turned against the prevalent peace in the area.
He described the violence as deplorable and unacceptable stressing that violence was no option in advancing the political cause of any group of people.
Bisina said the crisis would have been avoided if political leaders in the area had responded constructively to the plight of their people.
