Three teenagers dead, four injured in Kaduna building collapse-NEMA

Three of the seven children that were trapped in the two-storey building that collapsed on Hadejia Road, a busy commercial area of Kaduna, on Thursday, died, the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, has said. The other four survived and are being treated at a hospital.
NEMA spokesperson, Manzo Ezekiel, informed PREMIUM TIMES that the youngest of the seven trapped children survived while those that died were among the oldest within the group.
He said the eldest of the deceased was 13-years-old. He added that two of the victims died under the rubble while the third died at the hospital on Friday morning.
Mr. Manzo also said rescue operation at the site was called off around 2 a.m. on Friday.
Meanwhile, an uncle to the victims, Habib Shittu, told journalists that one of the survivors is only three-years-old. He also said all the survivors are receiving treatment at Jowako Hospital, along Jos Road, near the scene of the accident.
Mr. Shittu also told journalists that the father of the victims is out of the country.
The uncle of the children, however, said the family is making preparations to bury the one that died at the hospital.
“We are waiting for the corpse from 44 Army Reference Hospital to commence burial arrangement according to islamic right,” he said.‬
