The three accomplices are at large.
A man alleged to have conspired to kill one Lawal Bala last Tuesday at Genere, in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, has named his accomplices who are currently at large.
According to the Plateau State Police Public Relation Officer, PPRO, Felicia Amslem, the suspect who is currently in police custody, admitted to the crime and named three other persons as his conspirators.
The arrested suspect, who was fingered by the deceased’s wife, Mariam Bala, was alleged to have entered the couple’s home, along with his accomplices, around 4 p.m. on Tuesday. Ms. Bala told the police that more than five people had entered their home.
Mr. Bala, a butcher, and Maryam wedded just three weeks ago. He was killed at his home soon after returning from the day’s work. The wife was initially accused of killing her husband and was almost lynched by neighbours before she was rescued by the police.
According to Ms. Anselm, the suspect was interrogated at the state Crime Investigation Department CID. The police spokesperson said the remains of the deceased have been deposited at the Plateau Specialist Hospital mortuary for further investigations before releasing it for burial.
