Ahmed Musa scored his fifth league goal of the season for CSKA Moscow on Saturday, lifting the Russian giants to the top of the table as they came from behind to beat Amkar Perm 2-1 at the Arena Khimki.
The goal brings Musa to second in the Russian Premier League top scorers chart. Rostov’s Artem Dzyuba tops the chart with seven goals.
CSKA Moscow now top the log with 17 points from seven games, three points ahead of city rivals, Spartak Moscow, who share same points with Zenit St. Petersburg.
Out-of-favour Super Eagles striker, Ikechukwu Uche, was also on target in Spain on Saturday, scoring Villarreal’s third goal as they defeated Osasuna 3-0.
The Yellow Submarine had taken the lead through Jeremy Perbet in the 23rd minute, while Javier Aquino doubled the advantage seven minutes later.
Uche celebrated his goal on Twitter, saying, “Great game, great win.. Happy to get on the score sheet.. Hardwork continues.’’
Villarreal provisionally occupy the first position in La Liga with nine points from three matches, but they have played a game more than big guns Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid.
Red Star Belgrade’s Abiola Dauda was full of joy after netting his first goal of the season against Radnički Kragujevac in the Serbian Super League on Saturday.
The 25-year-old had failed to find the back of the net in his last five matches.
Filip Kasalica opened scoring for the 1991 European champions before a late goal from Dauda secured the three points for the visitors.
Out-of-favour Super Eagles captain, Joseph Yobo, was missing in the Fenerbahce squad that beat Sivasspor 5-2 on Saturday, but Emmanuel Emenike was in action for 81 minutes. The striker though failed to score in the encounter.
John Utaka also had a disappointing outing with Sivasspor as he failed to utilise the few chances that came his way in the game.
Stand-in Super Eagles captain, Vincent Enyeama, kept another clean sheet in the French Ligue Une on Saturday as Lille held Rennes to a goalless draw at the Stade de la Route de Lorient. Enyeama has featured in Lille’s four games so far and has only conceded in the 2-1 loss to Reims.
Brown Ideye did not get off the bench on Sunday as Dynamo Kyiv struggled to earn a point in the 1-1 home draw with Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk.
Roman Zozulya gave the visitors the lead in the 22nd minute but it was Andriy Yarmolenko who equalised for Dynamo. Haruna Lukman, who played like it was his last game, got a yellow card for a rough tackle in the 77th minute.
