The victim’s father was attracted to the scene by his daughter’s scream.
The Oyo State police command on Monday confirmed a report of a father who caught a 30-year-old man raping his daughter in a nearby bush.
The suspect, Emmanuel Liadi, was said to have held his 25-year-old victim somewhere at Oluyole area where he forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.
According to the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Olabisi Okuwobi-Ilobanafor, who confirmed the incident to journalists, the victim’s father was attracted to the scene by the scream of his daughter.
“The father of the victim who reported the crime heard his daughter screaming at a nearby bush and when he rushed there he saw the suspect on top of his daughter having canal knowledge of the victim by force.
“The father said he saw the suspect holding the neck of his daughter, thereby preventing her from raising alarm,” she said.
The victim, the police spokesperson said, had been taken to hospital for treatment while the suspect was promptly arrested and taken into custody.
Ms Okuwobi-Ilobanafor said detectives from the command had visited the scene to unearth more facts for possible prosecution of the suspect.
She said the state Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Indabawa, is takes issues of rape seriously, saying that informed why he ordered that the case be tranfered to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).
The CP, she added, had insisted that the case must be charged to court after investigation.
“There won’t be out-of-court settlement,” she said.
