Hull City are waiting for medical report on Sone Aluko to determine how long the winger will be out of action in the Premier League.
The Nigerian suffered a hamstring injury in their 2-0 loss to Manchester City at the Etihad on Saturday, compounding Steve Bruce’s woes as he hopes to get his team firing again.
The Tigers surprised the hosts – many people’s favourites to win the Premier League title – with a confident and tactically astute performance that promised an upset for much of the match. However, despite good chances for Aluko, Robert Koren and Danny Graham, the away team were unable to nick the goal that their excellent football deserved.
It is a different story for Seattle Sounders coach, Sigi Schmid, as he expects his side to get stronger with the return of Obafemi Martins on Wednesday.
Martins could not travel with the team to Columbus on Sunday, but Schmid was confident the former Inter Milan striker would be available against Chivas in the midweek encounter.
Schmid said, “(Martins has just a regular sprained ankle, nothing beyond that. But it was swollen, it was still bothersome to him, and we felt that it was important that we make sure he’s right for those games when we don’t have the national team players, when we lose Eddie, Clint and Brad. So I made the decision to leave him at home to make sure that he’s right for Wednesday.”
