Dad Shoots His 2 Children While They Sleep

A 69-year-old man is accused of shooting his two adult children while they slept early Sunday, killing one and seriously injuring the other, cops said.
The alleged shooter, who was not immediately identified, called 911 just before 3:30 a.m. A dispatcher talked the man out of shooting himself — just as his wife and two young grandchildren also slept inside the home in Puyallup, about 5 miles east of Tacoma.
The 43-year-old daughter and 46-year-old son were taken to Tacoma General Hospital, where she died, said Puyallup Deputy Police Chief Dave McDonald. Her brother remains in grave condition.
Cops weren’t releasing the names of the family members nor the exact type of gun used in the shooting.
McDonald said a small caliber handgun was retrieved, and the victims, who were sleeping in separate rooms, had gunshot wounds to their heads.

The motivation behind the attack remains under investigation, although police say they’ve been called to the home before.
“Our officers have responded numerous times over the past several years for minor domestic disputes and protection order violations,” McDonald told the Daily News. “It might have been a brother-and-sister or sister-and-parent dispute where we had to kick somebody out.”
The two boys found inside the home were ages 6 and 7, and were sleeping in a separate room from the victims. Neither were harmed.
They are the children of the adult male who was shot, according to ABC affiliate KOMO-TV.
The alleged shooter was booked into the Pierce County jail on one count of first-degree murder. He could face two counts if the male victim dies, police said.
He is expected to face charges Monday.
