Baby born by a destitute named after Aregbesola
The Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola gave the commendation during a celebration held in honour of a new baby boy delivered by a mentally challenged woman, Sayo Jimoh.
The ceremony was held at the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Osogbo.
The woman was one of the mentally challenged persons picked from the street around Ministry of Women Affairs & Social Development and taken to LAUTECH Teaching Hospital,Osogbo for treatment, under the directive and sponsorship of the state Governor, Ogbeni Aregbesola.
While speaking through the Special Adviser on Social Development and Special Needs, Hon. Biyi Odunlade, Governor Aregbesola said the Osun state state government will do everything within its capacity to make life better for all its citizens irrespective of their social status.
In his own speech, the Chief Medical Director, LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, Prof. Olufemi Fadiora appreciated Governor Aregbesola for his usual support for the development of the Hospital.
He assured the government and the family of the mentally challenged woman that adequate medical attention will be given to the woman and the baby.
Prof. Femi Fadiora there after presented a gift of silver pen and calculator to the boy which symbolises glorious future.
The mentally challenged woman who was then pregnant was picked up in Iwo where she was groaning in pains before being rushed to LAUTECH for onward delivery.
The child was named Okikiola, Oluwasegun, Samuel, Ayomide, Jimoh Aregbesola.
Dignitaries at the occasion were Commissioner for Health, Hon. Temitope Ilori and Commissioner for Information, Hon. Sunday Akere. Others were Commissioner for Women Affairs Hon. Mrs Mofolake Adegboyega, Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC), Dr. Benjamin Eegunranti and other top government officials.
