PDP Impasse: Nyako Describes Peace Moves As Belated

Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa state has described the several peace moves made by party leaders of the ruling party (PDP) in a bid to bring back into the fold, the Baraje-led faction of the party as belated.
The governor told journalists in Yola, the Adamawa state capital while on his way back from one of the resolution meetings, (a meeting that did not yield any result also) that the breakaway PDP is gaining ground among chieftains of the party.
He said the on-going crisis in the party is not a surprise as it has been festering for over a year, that the new PDP is out to fight injustices, saying that the old PDP as it is now, does not respect the rights of members and it must return to its path of fairness and justice.
However, the governor showed some optimism on the reconciliation, when he spoke on the planned meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan and other leaders of the party, saying he is sure the crisis will be resolved soon.
It will be recalled that the special convention by the ruling party which was supposed to mark the unity of the party, marked the birth of its faction, which has vowed to right the wrongs of the party, as PDP Governors Abdufatah Ahmed of Kwara, Muazu Aliyu of Niger, Musa Kwankwaso of Kano, Sule Lamido of Jigawa and Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto states, walked out of the special convention, while Governors Murtala Nyako of Adamawa and Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers states who were suspended joined them, including former Vice-president Atiku Abubakar, former governor of Osun state, Olagunsoye Oyinlola and also former governor of Kwara, Senator Bukola Saraki.
The new PDP also filed a suit asking the court to nullify the Tukur leadership of National Working Committee (NWC), and just today after the PDP leaders meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo, where he advised that caution needs to be taken, else the party will disintegrate, the National Chairman Bamanga Tukur filed a suit asking the court to stop the Baraje faction from parading themselves as national executives of the PDP.
